Description

The Excellence of a Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico

The Maison Masi has become the gold standard for Amarone wines in Italy and around the world. The art of making an Amarone is based on Maison Masi’s technical expertise in the appassimento process and its ancestral know-how, which produces wines with an excellent price-quality ratio.

The 2012 Maison Masi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Costasera is produced in the Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico DOCG appellation. This is an historic area encompassing the towns of Fumane, Negrar, Marano di Valpolicella, San Pietro in Cariano, and Sant' Ambrogio di Valpolicella in the Veneto region in the hills north of Verona in Italy.

The Costasera vineyards enjoy excellent sun exposure because of their location on steep slopes in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area, which benefits from a microclimate that is cooled by breezes from Lake Garda. This microclimate provides prime growing conditions for the traditional grape varieties in the Amarone blend that include Molinara, Corvina and Rondinella, all of which express the typicality of their respective terroirs.

The 2012 Maison Masi's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Costasera has a deep, almost black, red color. On the nose, the aromas represent the typical complexity of an Amarone with jammy black fruit, plum and maraschino cherry notes. On the palate, there is an explosion of flavors of fruity sweetness and notes of coffee and bitter chocolate. This true nectar will age well.
