Description
Elegant and balanced Rioja-style wine
The Bodega López de Heredia Viña Tondonia is one of the essential benchmarks of Rioja, in northern Spain. As a guardian of the traditional Rioja style, López de Heredia favors very long aging periods in large, old wooden vessels. Wines are only released to market once the estate considers them ready to drink.
The Viña Tondonia Reserva 2004 from Bodega López de Heredia is a blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Grenache, and 10% Graciano and Mazuelo. After aging for six and a half years in barrels, the wine then spends several years aging in bottle before being released.
An elegant wine, the Viña Tondonia Reserva 2004 is marked by an aromatic profile built around aging notes (vanilla, spices…) and ripe red and black fruit. Intense on the nose, it is also a remarkably persistent wine on the palate thanks to its beautifully balanced structure. It pairs wonderfully with all kinds of meat and can be cellared for several years.
