The property
Founded in 1877 and among the three oldest bodegas in La Rioja, the Bodega Lopez de Heredia is an essential reference among the most beautiful labels of Spanish wines.
A rare still family-owned estate, Bodega Lopez de Heredia has been producing great red and white wines for several generations, magnifying the potential and richness of a booming wine region, Rioja.
The wines from the Bodega are recognized beyond borders for their complexity, structure, aromatic richness, and significant aging potential.
The vineyard
Bodega Lopez de Heredia oversees a vineyard of 170 hectares of vines spread over 4 autonomous vineyards of the Rioja : Tondonia, Bosconia, Gravonia, and Cubillo.
The vintage
The year 2013 is marked by climatic instability, characterized by significant rainfall in the spring causing heterogeneity in the maturation of the berries. Particularly fresh, the summer is punctuated by a hailstorm on July 12 impacting yields.
Vinification and aging
Aging of 5 years in barrels, punctuated by two rackings per year.
Blend
Tempranillo (80%), garnacho (15%) then graciano and mazuelo.
