Description

The richness and complexity of a Pessac-Léognan white Second Wine

The estate

Under the aegis of the Bonnie family, the progression of the majestic Château Malartic-Lagravière has been spectacular. This Graves Grand Cru Classé boasts an exceptional location, with a vineyard superbly situated on a gravelly hilltop. Equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities, Château Malartic-Lagravière radiates throughout the appellation with white and red wines that stand out among the finest in Pessac-Léognan.

The vineyard

Le Comte de Malartic Blanc 2022 is a Pessac-Léognan wine made from 73 hectares of vines, 7 of which are white. The vines, which are 28 years old on average, are planted on dry gravel and clay soils. The subsoil is made up of shell limestone and veins of clay. Comte de Malartic is the estate's Second Wine.

The vintage

2022 was marked by extreme weather conditions, with spring frosts followed by drought and heatwaves in the summer. In the face of this, our knowledge of the terroir and the rigour of the teams made it possible to maintain the health of the vineyard. An early vintage produced grapes of optimal ripeness.

Winemaking and ageing

The grapes were harvested by hand in successive selections. The grapes were then slowly pressed and completely inerted before fermentation in barrels. Finally, the wine was aged on its lees in French oak barrels (25% of which were new) with regular stirring.

Blend

Le Comte de Malartic Blanc 2022 is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (62%) and Sémillon (38%).
