Description
A dense and silky Côtes du Roussillon Villages wine
The estate
Voted Best Young Sommelier of France at the age of 21, Hervé Bizeul fell in love with the fairytale landscapes of the majestic Cirque de Vingrau, at the foot of the Pyrenees Orientales, in Roussillon. Restaurateur, writer and passionate for land and vine, Hervé Bizeul founded Domaine du Clos des Fées with his wife in 1997.
Over the years, Domaine du Clos des Fées has become a major name among the finest wine labels in Roussillon. Expressing the singularity of their terroir of origin, these exceptional vintages delight with their intensity and balance while having a great ageing capacity.
The vineyard
A major name among the great Roussillon wines, Domaine du Clos des Fées oversees a 30-hectare vineyard spread across 112 plots on a real mosaic of soils run in a sustainable manner.
The wine
Le Clos des Fées is a Côtes du Roussillon Villages wine made from a mosaic of tiny parcels of selected old vines, all on clay-limestone slopes.
Winemaking and ageing
The grapes were sorted and destemmed. Vinification partly in 5 hl demi-muids. Warm run-off, malolactic fermentation and ageing 100% in new barrels. Aged on lees for about 18 months.
Blend
Le Clos des Fées 2014 is developed from a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Carignan.
