Owned by the Bernard family since 1983, the beautiful Domaine de Chevalier is poised at the top of the greatest Bordeaux Classified Growths. The estate is located in the heart of the Pessac-Leognan appellation and is surrounded by a lucious, green haven to the south of Bordeaux. L'Esprit de Chevalier is the second wine of the estate.
Domaine de Chevalier is a Pessac-Leognan wine made from a rare 67-hectare vineyard that rests on a gravelly soil with clay and gravel subsoil. Since 1986, the young vines have been used to ripen the grapes that go into the second wine of the estate, L'Esprit de Chevalier.
Vinification and aging
Following manual harvesting in crates, during which 3 to 5 meticulous sortings are carried out depending on the maturity of the grapes, the grapes are settled and then fermented in barrels. Lastly, the wine is aged in the Grand Vin barrels (one third of which are new) for 18 months on its lees, with regular stirring of the lees.
Sauvignon Blanc (65%)
A beautiful pale gold color with subtle green highlights
Complex and very fresh, the nose combines lively citrus fruit, vine peach and white flower fragrances.
The palate is seduced by this wine’s smooth feel and refreshing minerality. Balanced and pure, the palate harmoniously combines an intense fruity expression with a tension-based structure, a beautiful fruity acidity but also an exceptional length.
This Esprit de Chevalier 2021 white wine can be cellared until around 2030.
