II of Château Saint-Pierre 2016: a Pomerol with great roundness
The second wine of Château Saint-Pierre, II of Château Saint-Pierre is a red Merlot wine produced in the Pomerol appellation. This cuvée comes from a vineyard with an area of 1.4 hectares. Aged 20 years on average, the vines are planted on sandy and gravelly soils. II of the Château Saint-Pierre 2016 is matured in oak barrels of one previous wine for 15 months.
At tasting, the II du château Saint-Pierre 2016 reveals a rich and diversified bouquet, combining fragrances of vanilla and black fruits (mulberries) with vegetal notes (undergrowth). The wine shows off great roundness on the palate, with tannins of very good quality. It offers a sweet finish, with great aromatic persistence.
