Description

Characteristics and tasting tips for II de Château Saint-Pierre 2023

Nose
The nose exudes intense fruity (black fruits) and floral fragrances.

Palate

Ample, the palate impresses with its elegance and its persistent finish with fine tannins and lively freshness.

The vivacity and refinement of a Second Wine from Pomerol

The estate

Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, a stone's throw from Saint-Jean Church, the Château Saint-Pierre is an essential reference of the appellation. Château Saint-Pierre is renowned for its great red wines from Pomerol, crafted with the attention of Stéphane Derenoncourt and Frédéric Massie, both world-renowned consulting oenologists. Silky, full-bodied and structured, the wines of Château Saint-Pierre are undoubtedly long-keeping Pomerols.

The wine

Following in the footsteps of its elder, II du Château Saint-Pierre is a Pomerol wine offering more immediate accessibility than the estate's Grand Vin.

This Second Wine comes from a 1.4 hectare vineyard out of the 3 hectares of the estate. The vines, averaging 20 years old, are located on the top of the appellation's plateau, on predominantly gravelly-sandy soils.

Vinification and ageing

Hand harvesting. Fermentation in thermo-regulated stainless steel and concrete vats. Maceration for 2 to 3 weeks. Barrelling after racking. Ageing for 15 months in barrels (50% new, 50% of one wine).

Blend

Merlot (100%).
