Jeb Dunnuck

Birte Jantzen

A blend of 50% Syrah, 30% Grenache Noir, and 20% Mourvèdre, aged for 18 months in casks, the 2022 Pic Saint Loup Sainte Agnès is a little shy on the nose but opens up a bit more on the palate. There’s lots of black fruit (blueberry, blackberry) and spices, with a lovely intense flavor, but overall the wine remains uncomplicated and delicious. Fresh, with fine, mellow tannins, it finishes tight and is best decanted upon opening to allow it to soften. More of a food wine, it will pair well with grilled red meats. Drink 2025-2030.

La RVF

The limestones of Cazevieille at 350 meters above sea level speak brilliantly in this Saint Agnès 2022. It has the structure and straightness of its terroir of origin and a lovely floral touch. A wine with a long future.

Description

A red wine from Pic Saint-Loup combining finesse and complexity

The estate

Located on the hills of Saint-Mathieu de Tréviers, under the combined influence of Pic Saint-Loup and the Mediterranean, the Ermitage du Pic Saint-Loup estate - renamed theHeritage of Pic Saint-Loup from the 2021 vintage - is among the must-see references of Languedoc. The Ravaille brothers, Jean-Marc, Pierre and Xavier, have been infusing it for several decades with a demanding and committed vision, entirely focused on respect for the terroir and the most accurate expression of the local climate.

Thanks to rigorous biodynamic viticulture, without pesticides and with careful soil work, they produce wines with a strong style, recognized for their depth and purity.

The vineyard

The vineyard rests on a patchwork of complex soils: hard and soft limestones, dolomites, conglomerates, marls, river-origin scree... This geological diversity, combined with a unique climate marked by regular winter rainfall, dry summers and strong thermal amplitudes, ensures an optimal vegetative cycle. What is often called the climatic singularity of Pic Saint-Loup shapes precise, elegant and consistent Languedoc wines over time.

The wine

The Sainte Agnès cuvée stands out for its balance and refinement. Coming from vines located mid-slope on clay-limestone soils mixing white clay and hard limestone, it reflects all the complexity of the Pic Saint Loup terroir through a silky texture, beautiful freshness and great overall harmony.

Vinification and aging

The wine is aged in foudres, a choice that preserves the brightness of the fruit while giving it structure, depth and a good aging capacity.

The blend

This St. Agnès 2022 cuvée from Heritage of Pic Saint-Loup is the result of a blend of syrah, grenache and mourvèdre.
