Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Château Suduiraut Grand Vin Blanc Sec Vieilles Vignes 2023
Tasting
This vintage charms with its delicate balance of freshness, fruitiness, and indulgence.
The Minerality and Richness of a Grand Vin de Bordeaux Blanc Sec Vieilles Vignes
The Estate
Château Suduiraut, a Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes, has existed since the 16th century. This château, with gardens designed by Le Nôtre and a 91-hectare vineyard certified High Environmental Value, was acquired in 1992 by AXA Millésimes, which takes great pride in preserving and showcasing the expertise and culture of Sauternes wines.
The Vineyard
This Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a Bordeaux Blanc Sec wine made from a rigorous selection of vines averaging 45 years of age.
The Vintage
Winter was marked by both significant rainfall and a frost event in early April, which had little impact on the vineyard thanks to a late budbreak. The mildness of a warm, dry spring proved ideal for vine development. Flowering was even and of high quality. While July saw strong mildew pressure, early August was cool and overcast before dry, warm weather set in, ensuring optimal grape ripeness.
Winemaking and Aging
Grapes were harvested plot by plot according to each parcel's ripeness. Aged for 9 months in barrels (12% new and 88% one-wine barrels).
Blend
Sémillon (57%)
Sauvignon Blanc (43%).
