Description
A well-balanced wine from the Médoc with a rich aromatic palette
The estate
Located in the northern Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d'Estournel stands majestically. Like a true Maharajah's palace, the château and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel inherited hectares of vineyards and built the estate. An adventurer who traveled the world, his taste for the exotic and the Orient gave Château Cos d'Estournel this architecture so unique in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, Château Cos d'Estournel continues to shine within the Saint-Estèphe appellation and stands among the greatest wines in the world, distinguished by its unique style where a love of beauty and excellence remains a constant pursuit.
The vineyard
Enjoying an exceptional geographical location, the Cos d'Estournel vineyard sits at the edge of a plateau, in close proximity to the Gironde estuary. The vineyard thus benefits from a maritime climate while being sheltered from harsh weather. The vines are planted on two slopes and a central plateau, benefiting from an ideal exposure and good ventilation.
The wine
Starting with the 2019 vintage, Goulée by Cos d'Estournel has been renamed G d'Estournel. This wine, produced under the Médoc appellation, is crafted with the same rigor and standards as the estate's other wines.
Blend
G d'Estournel 2019 is a blend of Merlot (86%), Cabernet Sauvignon (13%), and Cabernet Franc (1%).
