Description
The estate
Located at the heart of Pomerol, Clos L’Eglise was recognised as one of the most expansive vineyards during the 18th century. Repurchased in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin Cathiard, sister of Daniel Cathiard, who owns Smith Haut-Lafitte, the estate is now under the management of Helene Garcin Cathiard and Patrice Leveque.
The vineyard
The vineyard at Clos l’Eglise is spread over 5.89 hectares on a clayey-gravelly terroir.
Winemaking and aging
Manually harvested, the grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats. Aging lasts for 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels.
Blend
The 2020 Clos l’Eglise is made of a blend of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%).
