Description
The estate
Chateau de Segur de Cabanac belongs to the Delon family, who also owns Château Moulin de la Rose. In the heart of the Saint-Estephe appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux, this chateau has been run since 1985 by the Delon family, representing 7 generations of winemakers.
The vineyard
The 7.7-hectare vineyard is planted in gravel soils and face the Gironde estuary. The thirty year old vines are planted in one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Saint-Estèphe appellation.
The vintage
The beginning of the season was cool and humid, followed by an extremely hot summer period. The vines were able to adapt very well to the climatic conditions of the year, yielding fruit of excellent quality. The warm days and cool nights allowed the grapes to reach perfect maturity.
The winemaking and aging
Following a manual harvest on September 4, 5 and September 20, the fruit was brought back to the winery. Sorting in the vineyard, vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats and fermentation for 3 weeks. The wine was then aged in barrels (30% new).
