Chateau Mazeyres 2023

Noble perfume, clear fruit, lots of florality, playful, a profusion of aromas; crisp on the palate, delicate fruit, perfectly ripe, silky tannins, good acid structure, medium density, long‑lasting. A safe bet.

The 2023 Mazeyres is intriguing but also a bit eccentric because of the elevated presence of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, both of which add a strong savory/spiced imprint that is unusual for Pomerol. There's a lot to like in this distinctive 2023.

Flowers and cherries blend together in the perfume. The medium-bodied palate quickly delivers its soft, supple-textured red fruits with subtle touches of spearmint and spices in the finish. Drink from 2027-2040.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, brightening at the rim. A hint of bergamot, dark forest berries, fresh cherries, inviting bouquet. Juicy, elegant, sweet berry fruit, fine tannins, good freshness, mineral and persistent, salty and lemony, good length and certain ageing potential.

Fragrant raspberry leaf aromatics, this opens with a fresh kick of slate and liquorice root, attractive raspberry fruit, with acidity a little high on the finish. Alain Moueix consultant.

Score: 92–94. Peony, iris, violet; the nose is very seductive without lacking depth. The palate is more airy with a silky, creamy texture, dark fruits, and a hint of blackcurrant leaf on the finish.
