Description
A refined Saint-Julien wine with a rich aromatic palette
The estate
Château Langoa Barton is a Third Classified Growth of 1855 in the Saint-Julien appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. The property was acquired in 1821 by the influential trading company Barton & Gustier, already experienced in the production of wine from this area at Château Léoville Barton, acquired by this same family in 1826. Today the Barton family remains at the helm of the property.
The vineyard
A reference among fine Saint-Julien wines, the 20 hectares of productive vineyard at Château Langoa Barton are planted in gravel soils with clay subsoils.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are destemmed before being carefully sorted. Crushing and transfer to thermo-regulated wooden vats. Vinification by plot. Alcoholic fermentation for 7 to 10 days. Gentle extraction along with pumping over. Maceration for around 3 weeks before running off in batches into barrels. Aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new).
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (53.5%)
Merlot (38%)
Cabernet Franc (8.5%)

Nose
The bright nose combines fragrances of black fruits and burlat cherries with minty and spicy notes.
Palate
Dense and powerful, the palate seduces with the great precision of its tannins, its suppleness and its roundness. This wine also offers a beautiful persistence.
