Vinum

Luminous ruby; a nose that renders you speechless—dark fruit, blackberries, plums, cherries, violets—then wet stone after a summer thunderstorm, a sniffing wine like no other; on the palate, of majestic elegance, firm and focused, masses of top-quality tannins envelop the fruit, creamy texture, excellent length. Believe it or not, this Eglise Clinet is certainly among the very best the Right Bank has to offer this year.

Decanter

Dark fruit, ripe blackcurrants and plums, black cherries, sweetly floral, raspberry and cherry. Controlled and calm, this has a crushed velvet texture, almost thick in the mouth. Super seductive, chewy, ripe, fleshy even but still cool and focused. Mint, liquorice and graphite with crushed stones. This really packs a punch in terms of flavour and brightness. Mouthwatering, succulent, clean, fragrant and still with power but refined on the finish, the tannins perfectly integrated. Dark and serious but with hints of fun too. You just want to drink this right now. Flawlessly executed and furthermore a wine that gives you real emotion. Serious contender for wine of the vintage. Ageing 85% new oak barrels. 3.59 pH. A yield of 42 hl/ha. No chaptalisation.

Truffles, plums, and chocolate notes pop in the perfume before you find the black cherries, with just a hint of cocoa in the nose. The palate is ripe, creamy, polished, fresh, and energetic. There is a firmness to the tannins, paired with length, and most important purity that comes through as the fruits linger in the lengthy finish. From a blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc, 13.8% ABV. The harvest took place September 21 - September 28. Drink from 2029-2045. 94-96 Pts

Elegant, slow unrolling of black fruit flavours, beautiful precision, get a lot of fennel here, even a touch of marzipan, coffee grounds, savoury and juicy, black fruits, cassis and blueberry, violets, powdery rose petals. This is just exceptional within the vintage, such a deeply felt and deeply chiselled wine, and I can unhesitatingly recommend. No chaptilisation, 3.59ph, 85% new oak. Harvest September 21 to 28, 45hl/h yield, Noëmie Durantou winemaker and co-owner. Clearly will age with elegance and finesse. Red wine of the vintage for me.

Deep red colour with black highlights. Intense. A very aromatic, refined, pure, fruity nose, with lovely black-fruit notes, then floral nuances when the glass is swirled. Precise from the attack, particularly aromatic on the mid-palate, with a dense body and plenty of flavour, the wine develops into a savoury, complex finish of great length, both juicy and silky. Remarkable for the vintage. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc. Natural alcohol: 13.8% - pH: 3.59. Yield: 42 hl/ha. 15% saignée. Ageing planned in 85% new barrels.

Description

A structured and refined Pomerol wine

The estate
Born from the union of plots from Clos L'Église and Château Clinet, Château L'Église-Clinet was established in 1882 under the impetus of Monsieur Mauléon-Rouchut, ancestor of Denis Durantou. Located at the heart of the Pomerol appellation, this emblematic estate of Bordeaux's Right Bank adopted its current name in 1955. It is now recognised as one of the most confidential and sought-after crus of the appellation.

The vineyard
The vines, planted on deep clay soils mingled with gravel, benefit from an exceptional terroir at the heart of the Pomerol plateau. This unique geological setting gives the wine richness, finesse and depth.

Vinification and ageing
The manual harvest took place from 10 to 14 September. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, 82% of which are new, to preserve the intensity of the fruit while bringing beautiful oaky complexity.

Blend
The blend of Château L'Eglise Clinet 2024 is composed of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
