Description
The aromatic expression of a biodynamic and typical red wine from Pessac-Leognan
The estate
Situated in the appellation of Pessac-Leognan, Chateau Haut-Bergey belongs to Sylviane Garcin. This Leognan estate has experienced a fantastic evolution over the past two decades thanks to the significant work carried out in the vineyard, in the vat room and in the winery. Chateau Haut-Bergey currently stands out for its powerful red wines and white wines that showcase the typical features of the Pessac-Leognan appellation.
The vineyard
Chateau Haut-Bergey's vineyard covers 65 hectares of which 42 hectares are planted on sandy-gravelly soils upon a clay subsoil, a characteristic of the Pessac-Leognan appellation. The vineyard is managed in an organic and biodynamic manner and carries out grassing between the rows of vines, earthing and unearthing. The vineyard and wines of Chateau Haut-Bergey are Ecocert and Demeter certified. This Chateau Haut-Bergey 2021 red wine stems from a 15-hectare vineyard.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand and then sorted successively. The vinification of this Chateau Haut-Bergey 2021 red wine is carried out in truncated stainless steel vats, which favors a gentle extraction. The wine is aged for 14 months in 3000 liter tuns, 300 liter barrels and 700 liter amphoras.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (50%)
Merlot (20%),
Cabernet Franc (20%)
Petit Verdot (10%).
