The estate
Founded by Henri Martin, Château Gloria is an iconic reference among fine Saint-Julien wines, an appellation situated on the left bank of Bordeaux. This estate’s distinctiveness lies in its strong vineyard, meticulously built up by Henri Martin through the acquisition of plots of vines from 1855 Grands Crus Classés.
The vineyard
Located in the Saint-Julien AOC, Château Gloria’s vineyard spreads across 50 hectares of vines. The vineyard is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supplemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The Henri Martin estates, including Château Gloria, bear the ISO 140001 and HVE3 certificates. Château Gloria’s vineyard is managed in a sustainable manner with the use of organic products and bio-control.

The tasting
Colour
Beautiful purplish colour with bluish highlights.
Nose
The nose is aromatic with dense black fruits notes mixed with a mineral touch (graphite).
Palate
On the palate, this Saint-Julien wine is dynamic and poised on an acidic base which guarantees freshness on the mid-palate and a good sap with a solid tannic backbone. The tannins are ripe and well-integrated into the framework. The finish is exceptionally persistent.
Cellaring
This Château Gloria 2016 can lay in the cellar until 2028 to 2031, enabling it to express its full aromatic range.
The 2016 Gloria is comprised of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot aged 14 months in 42% new and 58% one-year-old French oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, it sings of plum preserves, warm cassis and dark chocolate with touches of tobacco, bay leaves and lavender with a waft of dusty soil. The palate is medium-bodied, elegant and savory in the mouth with loads of layers and a lifted finish.
