A well-structured Pomerol red wine

The Chateau Franc-Maillet is an estate located in Pomerol. The area of the vineyard is a little more than 5 hectares with the grape varieties consisting of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

At tasting, the Chateau Franc Maillet 1999 offers a magnificent dark ruby colour with violet hues. On the nose, we can smell berry, plum, black cherry and gooseberry aromas. On the palate, the wine appears medium-bodied and of good structure. The tannins are present on the palate, which is unique for a wine from this vintage. Best to consume right now.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 1999 Franc Maillet is dark ruby/purple-colored with notes of plum, black cherries, currants, and berries. This medium-bodied, pure, well-structured wine is atypically tannic for a 1999. It needs one to two years of cellaring and should drink well for 10-12.
