Chateau Fonreaud 2018

A powerful and fine red wine from the Left Bank of Bordeaux

Chateau Fonreaud is a wine well known to Medoc lovers. With its consistent quality and accessibility, Chateau Fonreaud is a safe bet, the estate situated on the Left Bank of Bordeaux in the Listrac-Medoc appellation. Aware of the need for winemakers to adopt more environmentally friendly practices, Chateau Fonreaud is certified as High Environmental Value Level 3.

To produce the Chateau Fonreaud 2018, the estate had to contend with a contrasting year that required plenty of work in the vineyard, especially during the first part of the season. Fortunately the summer was quite sunny and warm. The water stress resulted in small, concentrated and highly aromatic fruit.

The Chateau Fonreaud 2018 is composed of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented by 4% Petit Verdot. Matured 30% in new barrels, this Listrac-Medoc red wine offers a very consistent and ripe texture. The result is an intense sensation on the palate, highlighted by a structure that is both powerful and elegant. A beautiful wine without a hitch!

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Deep garnet-purple, the 2018 Fonreaud is a little cedary to start, opening out to expressive notions of wild blueberries, black plums and cassis with hints of fragrant earth and tobacco. The medium to full-bodied palate is wearing the wood in its chewy texture, with loads of earth-sparked black fruit and a peppery kick to the finish.
