Description
The estate
Located on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, near the church of Pomerol, the Château du Domaine de L'Église is one of the oldest vineyards of the appellation.
The vineyard
The Château du Domaine de L'Église 2022 is a Pomerol wine made from a 7-hectare vineyard located in the centre of the famous plateau of the appellation.
The vintage
A particularly dry winter preceded a spring in which an intense frosty spell at the beginning of April spared the vineyard. In mid-May, the flowering was rapid and uniform. Alternating heat, rain and thunderstorms, the month of June gave way to a very hot and dry summer. 2022 was thus recognised as the hottest year since 1947. Concentrated and small in size, the grapes revealed great quality and a beautiful aromatic richness. Despite the low yields, this 2022 vintage delights with its deep colour and ideally concentrated aromas.
Winemaking and ageing
The wine is aged exclusively in barrels (60% new, 40% one wine).
Blend
Merlot (98%)
Cabernet Franc (2%).
Tasting
Colour
The wine has an intense ruby colour with purple highlights.
Nose
The nose exhales fresh fruity, spicy and liquorice fragrances.
Palate
An ample and smooth attack precedes a palate with fine tannins that draw out to a soft and fruity finish.
