Description
A vintage marked by extreme weather conditions, 2018 will nevertheless be remembered at Chateau du Domaine de L’Eglise as an exceptional year.
Located on the right bank of Bordeaux near the church of Pomerol, Chateau de Domaine de L'Eglise is one of the oldest vineyards of the appellation.
After a chaotic and very rainy spring, the strong mildew pressure did not spare the Domaine de l'Eglise vineyard. But the sun finally appeared in mid-July and remained for the next 4 months. These ideal summer conditions favored a perfect ripening of the fruit. A "tailor-made"” grape harvest began on September 19 and ended on October 3, yielding fruit that already demonstrated the qualities of a great vintage.
Blending Merlot (95%) and Cabernet Franc (5%), the Domaine de l'Eglise 2018 offers a noble example of the great terroir of Pomerol. At the tasting, the vintage displays a dark and deep color. Intensely aromatic, the bouquet delivers a beautiful expression of fruit, while the palate offers a generous and concentrated texture, with silky and melted tannins. The finish persists for a long time. A great red grand vin from Pomerol, ranked one of the highest in this beautiful 2018 vintage.
