Description
A Singular Blend from Château des Tourettes, Between the Luberon and the Rhône Valley
The Estate
The modern story of Château des Tourettes began in 1997, when Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens-Heynen, winemakers renowned for their work with Chardonnay in Burgundy, acquired this property perched above Apt, at the foot of the Luberon. The estate extends over 19 hectares, 14 of which are planted with vines. The Guffens-Heynens chose grape varieties unusual for the region, which led the estate to market its entire production under the Vin de France designation rather than under the Côtes du Luberon appellation.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this white Vin de France come from plots located on the Plateau de l'Aigle, at an altitude of approximately 1,300 to 1,375 feet, in the heights above Apt. The limestone-rich soils benefit from a significant diurnal temperature range, promoting slow, even ripening of the grapes. The vines, with an average age of around 25 years, come from massal selections replanted by the estate, in keeping with a careful, sustainable approach to viticulture.
Winemaking and Aging
Tinus Marsanne Roussanne 2025 is harvested by hand, with the juice selected from the very start of pressing so that only the first-press juice is retained, thereby preserving a fine acidity. Vinification takes place in concrete tanks, some of them tulip-shaped, following the method used for the entire Tinus range, before aging on the lees to marry the ripeness of the fruit with a pronounced mineral tension.
Grape Varieties
This Tinus Marsanne Roussanne 2025 from Château des Tourettes is a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, two emblematic grape varieties of the Rhône Valley, grown on the estate's high-altitude plots.
