Description
The elegance and smoothness of a Moulis-en-Médoc wine
The estate
On the Grand Poujeaux plateau, the Château Branas Grand Poujeaux is located between two great crus of the Médoc. This estate has been owned by Julien Onclin since 2002.
The vineyard
The Château Branas Grand Poujeaux 2023 is a Moulis wine from a 25-hectare vineyard. The vines, approximately 33 years old, are planted on Garonne gravels.
The vintage
The unstable conditions at the start of the season favour both significant vegetative growth and high mildew pressure before a summer whose clemency ensures optimal berry growth.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvesting in crates. Rigorous sorting before partial destemming. Vinification accompanied by pump-overs, punch-downs and rack and returns. Ageing for 16 months in barrels (50% new, 50% one wine) and amphorae (8%).
Blend
This Château Branas Grand Poujeaux 2023 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (35%) and Petit Verdot (15%).
