Description

Since 2010, the team of Yquem have been striving to maintain the proper ratio between the blend of grape varieties and the residual sugar to ensure consistency in the style of Y. 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon make up this connoisseurs' wine of which only 10,000 bottles are produced. The highly confidential nature of this wine which is "dry without being dry" (7 grams of residual sugar) results from grapes which are slightly botritised, making it a highly acclaimed Bordeaux dry white. "Y" 2014 has a golden yellow robe with delicate golden reflections. The nose has a beautiful aromatic presence. Exhibiting an ethereal quality, it is fresh, precise and pure in its aromas, dominated essentially by yellow fruits. Overall, a sumptuous first nose. On agitation it is ample, the fruits become more defined (vine peaches, greengage plums) and a floral character of yellow rose petals develops. The first impression on the palate is remarkable, it is sharp with a good acidity that balances the richness of the wine. The mid-palate reveals a note of fresh, crunchy ginger and a wonderful retro-olfaction of bergamot. The finish lingers on the fruit, encompassed with a defined acidity. In short, a great success!
