The property
Vieux Chateau Certan is one of the oldest and most prestigious estates in the Pomerol appellation, acquired over a century ago by the grandfather of Alexandre Thienpont, current owner of the estate.
The vineyard
Covering 14 hectares in one piece, the Vieux Certan vineyard is planted in fertile soils. The team pays careful attention to the cultivation of the estate's vines, which produce wines recognized for their aromatic finesse and elegance.
The vintage
A very rainy winter was followed by a warm spring, favoring early and even flowering. These conditions, combined with the hot and dry summer, slowed down the vigor of the vineyard and resulted in an early harvest with lower yields than the last vintages.
The blend
The Vieux Chateau Certan 2020 was made from a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%).

Color
The wine displays a deep and beautiful purple color.
Nose
The nose presents delicious aromas of ripe fruit.
Palate
The palate is seductive, showing a perfect balance between freshness and concentration, a guarantee of great aging potential. Dense and racy, the Merlot is delicious and shows intense and rich aromas. The concentrated Cabernet Franc grapes lend the blend complexity, smoothness and length on the palate.
