An exceptional añejo tequila from the Jalisco Highlands aged in four cask types

Mijenta Tequila: women-led vision and Mexican artisanal excellence

Mijenta is an artisanal tequila house founded in 2020 in Jalisco, Mexico, by a team led by entrepreneur Elise Som and maestra tequilera Ana Maria Romero Mena. Inspired by Mexican culture and hospitality, the brand focuses on high-quality blue agave, traditional methods, and a sustainable approach (local suppliers, eco-friendly packaging, Mijenta community foundation). The name “Mijenta” comes from the expression “mi gente” (“my people”), reflecting a tequila rooted in terroir, craftsmanship, and community. The range first launched with a Blanco, then expanded to Reposado and Añejo Gran Reserva expressions.

Mijenta Añejo: revolutionary aging in four wood essences

Mijenta Añejo represents the culmination of Ana María Romero Mena’s expertise. This tequila of distinction benefits from a minimum of 18 months of aging in four custom cask types: American white oak, French oak, acacia, and cherry wood. Each cask type contributes its own character to this unique profile. The oak casks develop structure and texture, acacia builds body with light herbal and citrus notes, while cherry wood enhances the fruity tones. This innovative approach to maturation, combined with the exclusive use of Blue Weber agave from the Jalisco Highlands, creates an ultra-premium, additive-free expression of remarkable complexity. The rarity of this cuvée, with only 2,160 bottles produced in the first batch, makes it a treasure for discerning tequila lovers.
