Originally from the French Flanders, Jean-Marie Guffens and his wife settled in Burgundy, more precisely in the Mâconnais, in 1976.

At the helm of the Guffens-Heynen wine estate, Jean-Marie Guffens founded Domaine Verget in 1990 with the ambition of producing, exclusively from purchased grapes, fine Burgundy wines from emblematic appellations such as Mâcon, Chablis or the Côte d'Or.

Produced with the same diligence and philosophy as the wines of Domaine Guffens-Heynen, the wines of Domaine Verget exude the sophisticated nuances of the king grape variety, Chardonnay, along with the identity of each of the terroirs that make up the appellations of Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran or Mâcon-Pierreclos.

Over the years, Jean-Marie Guffens has nurtured close relationships with partner winegrowers who show a great passion for their vineyard and a deep respect for the environment.

Since 2006, he has been working with Julien Desplans, who ensured both the purchasing of grapes and their vinification.
