The estate
Since its creation in 1986, Mas Martinet has been renowned as one of the finest references in Priorat.
Stemming from a 7-hectare vineyard that spreads over a mosaic of sustainably-managed plots, Mas Martinet wines perfectly express the nuances of this renowned wine-growing area, located in Catalonia in the north-east of Spain.
The wine
Mas Martinet’s Priorat Martinet Bru is made from grapes grown on the Mas Seró vineyard, located in the "Vi de Vila" area of Masos de Falset. This terroir is unique in that its stony slate soil (llicorella) and the refreshing sea breeze (Garbinada) favor a slow and gradual ripening of the grapes. The combination of these two natural characteristics give rise to wines that boast a beautiful freshness, fine tannins along with delicious notes of liquorice, blackberry and rosemary.
Vinification and aging
The destemmed grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in concrete vats, with open pumping over every two or three days. In a search for elegance and a light feel and in order to preserve the fruit's integrity and freshness, the macerations last 10 to 15 days. A pressing of the juices precedes the 15-month aging period in wooden vats and clay amphorae.
The blend
Priorat Martinet Bru 2019 by Mas Martinet comprises a blend of Grenache and Syrah.
