Wine Spectator

Kristen Bieler

Floral high tones introduce this Riesling, which turns racy and almost angular on the palate, with bright acidity and a solid wall of slate offset by creamy depth. Clean and linear through the energetic finish. Drink now through 2032. 22,000 cases made, 8,500 cases imported.

Trimbach’s basic Riesling shows the producer’s long experience and know-how with the grape variety. After being handpicked, the grapes were vinified in stainless steel and quickly bottled under screwcap. The wine then aged for a year in bottle before release. It’s a classic expression, youthful and fresh, with a hint of petrol on the nose as the wine starts to mature and evolve. Aromatic with juicy, tangy lime zest, bone-dry and highly moreish. Very well priced, too.

The wide spectrum of citrus, crisp pear and stone fruit aromas announces a remarkable achievement for an entry-level wine. Excellent depth on the racy, medium-bodied palate where the chalky minerality beautifully counterpoints the cool fruit. Crisp, long finish with so much vitality. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Vinous

The 2022 Riesling is blended from the estate and bought fruit from across Alsace with a sizeable portion of Grand Cru vineyards, plus the fruit from young estate vines and Grands Cru fruit that was brought in, mostly from limestone soils, but with some sandstone and volcanic elements. A lovely crackle of flint blends with a touch of chamomile and radiant dried lemon notes, making for an aromatic nose. The palate is juicy, bouncing with energy, with a slight astringency as of citrus peel and pith that bundles this exuberance. The 2022 shows gorgeous tension, lovely dryness and oh so much energy. (Bone-Dry)

This wine comes from estate-grown grapes as well as purchased fruit. It includes Grand Cru–level wines and aims to showcase the overall quality level of the grape variety. The bouquet confirms the benchmarks set by the Trimbach family! It reveals mineral nuances along with citrus notes complemented by hints of white peach. Lively and saline on the attack, the wine is precise, expressive, and persistent. Notable for its crunch, tension, and length. Excellent level!

Light-bodied and linear, with intense acidity pumping through flavors of tarragon, crisp apple, wet stone and lemon zest. It is lacy, with a long, mouthwatering finish.
