Marks and reviews
The Second Wine of the emblematic Chateau Lagrange, the Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2018 offers a magnificent and generous expression of the great terroir of Saint-Julien in what was a great vintage for the Bordeaux region.
While 2018 began with stormy and rainy weather conditions, the beautiful summer that followed (one of the driest and warmest since 1996) allowed the fruit to ripen beautifully. The harvest took place under the best conditions, starting on September 20th and ending on October 13th, 2018.
Blending Cabernet Sauvignon (51%), Merlot (44%) and Petit Verdot (5%), the Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2018 is made from fruit that is harvested from vines aged 28 years on average. The wine is matured for 14 months in oak barrels, of which 20% is of new oak.
At the tasting, the Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2018 displays a deep purple-red color. The nose seduces with its intense aromas of red fruits and spicy notes. On the palate, the wine unfolds the elegant and refined structure of a great Saint-Julien, presenting tannins that are already quite nicely integrated. Remarkably accessible in its youth, the Fiefs of Lagrange 2018 will evolve gracefully through the next few years, with a potential to age until 2020 to 2030.
