Description
A magnificent fine red wine from Saint-Julien with bright fruit and a supple structure
The estate
With wines that achieve, vintage after vintage, a certain prowess, excellence and elegance, Chateau Leoville Las Cases is today among the most iconic properties of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation located on the left bank of the Bordeaux region.
The wine
Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases was born in 2007. The second wine of Chateau Leoville Las Cases, Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases is made from plots of vines located in Clos Leoville Las Cases. Following in the footsteps of the First Wine, Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases is vinified and aged with the same care as the other wines of the property. With a larger share of Merlot in its blend, Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases is more accessible in its youth.
The blend
Cabernet sauvignon (46%), merlot (43%), cabernet franc (11%).
The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases 2019 by Chateau Leoville Las Cases dazzles the nose with its intense aromatic expression and great freshness, just like the estate’s first wine. The aromatic bouquet evolves to reveal intense red and black fruit, mingling with notes of undergrowth and mineral graphite touches. The tasty and gourmet palate is bewitching, and structured by soft tannins. The finish has a superb length, leaving pleasant sensations behind on the palate. Accessible in its youth, this magnificent great red wine from Saint-Julien nonetheless has a remarkable potential for age.
