Acquired by the Borie family in 1941, Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou takes its name from its extraordinary terroir. Led with great passion and determination by the talented Bruno Borie, Ducru-Beaucaillou today belongs to the elite circle of great Saint-Julien wines.
Situated along the river, the Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard is planted in gravel dating from the Gunz Ice Age. Near the Gironde estuary, the vines benefit from an exceptional microclimate as the river acts as a thermal regulator.
Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is an introduction to the style of its elders, the Grand Vin of Ducru-Beaucaillou and La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. Endowed with its own style, Le Petit Ducru presents the same attention from the team during the vegetative cycle of the vine, the same uncompromising selection and the same rigorous vinification as the other two wines of the estate.
After harvest and a bespoke winemaking process, the wine ages for 12 months in Bordeaux barrels, 30% in new wood and 70% in barrels of one previous wine.
