I tasted the NV Crémant du Jura from the 2012 vintage -- a very dry, pure Chardonnay matured in contact with the lees for 18 months and bottled as a Brut, with less than three grams of sugar. The nose is clean and subtle, with some simple notes of white fruit, flowers and a little yeast character. The palate is fresh, equally clean, straightforward and easy to drink. The appellation started in 1995 and the first Crémant here is from 1996; the sparkling wines are quite popular locally and often represent a significant percentage in some cellars. 3,000 bottles produced."
