Description
A fresh and refined red wine from Lalande de Pomerol
The estate
Chateau Siaurac is located at the end of the Pomerol plateau, in Neac, in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. The chateau represents three centuries of history and is established on the edge of the Barbane on the border of Pomerol.
The vineyard
Chateau Siaurac 2021 is a Lalande-de-Pomerol wine that stems from a 46.18-hectare vineyard which is planted on a tapestry of terroirs made up of gravel, deep clay and clayey sand. This exceptional vineyard is divided into 40 parcels of land. The estate is currently converting to organic farming and already bears a High Environmental Value level 3 certificate. The vines are 32 years old on average.
The vintage
The winter was particularly wet and mild, which favored an early and even budburst. Spring was punctuated by frosts which had a strong impact on the vineyard. The dry weather in April followed by heavy rainfall in May delayed the vegetative cycle. Despite unstable and stormy weather conditions between mid-June and mid-July, the higher temperatures led to rapid development of the vines. The cooler and drier conditions thereafter are ideal and balanced the ripeness levels all while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
Vinification and aging
Aged for 14 months in barrels (5% new, 37% second-fill, 47% third-fill barrels) and in amphorae (11%).
The blend
Cabernet Franc (51%)
Malbec (38%)
Merlot (10%)
Cabernet Sauvignon (1%).
