The estate
Great terroirs are not exclusively limited to the most famous appellations and Chateau Marsau is the perfect example.
The vineyard
Established in a very green setting on one of the highest points of the Francs Cotes de Bordeaux appellation, east of Saint-Emilion, Chateau Marsau boasts a 13-hectare vineyard with a superb terroir. Planted in clay soils, a single grape variety flourishes perfectly: Merlot, the Dark Lord of the right bank of the Bordeaux region.
The vintage
The 2019 vintage was dedicated to observation at Chateau Marsau. The technical teams were able to observe each vine very closely and at all times. The vine rows of the estate are completely grassed, making it possible to increase the biodiversity of the vineyard. The estate recorded a night of harsh frost from May 4 to 5. Nevertheless, the technical teams fought hard for a beautiful vintage.
The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, the Chateau Marsau 2019 has rewarded with beauty and poetry the efforts of the estate’s technical teams. The wines present a great aromatic freshness and evolve notes of morello cherry and spices, punctuated with floral notes of violet. Subtle and delicate, the palate feels like silk and lace. It develops a great harmony and smoothness, lingering long on a vibrant, saline and energetic finish. A lively vintage ending in -9 for Chateau Marsau.
