Chateau Feytit-Clinet 2021

Softly supple, this is quite delicate and lightly presented, almost lean but there's a gentle chew and bright acidity to the raspberry and blackcurrant fruit with elements of dried herbs, liquorice, green pepper and toast. Feels a touch sombre at this point, clearly there's power underneath but needs more time to soften and expand. A little disjointed right now but good potential.

Intense ruby, narrow purple rim. Roasted nuts, cherry fruit, a touch of tobacco and nougat. Medium-bodied, subtle fruit sweetness, vivid, integrated tannins, salty, delicate, leafy finish, tannins finish slightly dry.

Smoky red and blue fruits, graphite, burning embers, and a kiss of leather all emerge from the 2021 Château Feytit-Clinet, another ripe, broad, layered effort from Jeremy Chasseuil. Medium-bodied, textured, and beautifully balanced, with plenty of mid-palate depth, it has ripe tannins and outstanding length. Give this terrific 2021 2-4 years, and it will evolve nicely over the following decade.

Cloves, pencil lead, dark chocolate, dark cassis; this veers towards aniseed and fennel bitterness on the finish, but there is concentration here and plenty of appellation character. A good choice for an impactful Pomerol; no need to wait too long, but allow a good few hours in a decanter.

The 2021 Feytit-Clinet has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. The nose is a little reduced with rubbery/tar-inspired notes, followed by a core of black and red plums and sautéed herbs. The medium-bodied palate is a tad thin, with lightly chewy tannins and a succinct finish.

An open, sincere, toasty nose with brioche notes. The toasty side, very attractive, also comes through on the palate, with hints of bacon and a caramelized, smoky character that many will appreciate.

Dark, intense color. Moderately aromatic nose with ripe fruit. Precise on entry, juicy mid-palate, flavorful and very well built, the wine glides through to the finish, offering a wood note already well integrated. Good length.

At the time of the en primeur tasting, the oak imprint is very pronounced. It wraps around rather confit-like black fruit. The palate shows fine extraction—full, juicy, ripe—both robust and dressed in finely sculpted tannins. There’s a slightly drying note on the finish, which will no doubt soften with time.

Dark chocolate-covered plums and black cherries with roasted espresso bean overtones are all over here on the nose and on the palate. The wine finishes plummy with earthy nuances in the endnote. This is still the best deal in Pomerol. Drink from 2023-2035. 91-93
