Chateau Fayat 2015 : complex and powerful

Born in 2009 from a merger of three properties: chateaux Commanderie de Mazeyres, Vieux Bourgneuf and Prieurs de la Commanderie, chateau Fayat is located in the town of Libourne in the appellation of Pomerol. Its vineyard covers 11.22 hectares of vines, aged 50 years on averahe. Chateau Fayat 2015 is a single-varietal Merlot, which is aged for 12 months in 50% new oak.

The wine presents a very dark red color. The nose bears nice fruit. The palate of Chateau Fayat 2015 is powerful and complex, with an elegant aromatic profile and well-rounded and smooth tannins. It is a Pomerol wine with a relatively long aging potential.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Fayat is medium to deep garnet-purple in color and has quite a strange nose of wet rag with leathery hints over a core of red and black fruit preserves. The full-bodied palate is a bit grubby with a chewy, rather rustic character. I tasted two bottles of this wine with the same results.
