Wine Spectator

James Molesworth

Features a racy white peach and candied lemon peel profile, with lots of honeysuckle and papaya notes. Fresh, open-knit finish. Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Drink now through 2033. 3,000 cases made.

Decanter

Sweet caramel and honeyed toffee on the nose alongside peach and white pear, smells inviting. Great texture and depth here, I love the sugary hit you get straight away that then lingers on the tongue while a minerality comes through and almost cleans the palate. Fresh and refreshing. Abundant fruit profile with a smooth caramel texture and bright sweetness with some bitter orange notes at the end. Good impact - charming and classical. I love it.

James Suckling

Aromas of dried apricot, pineapple, dried spice, stem ginger and sliced mushroom. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity. Pretty spice notes. Refined and fresh Sauternes. Hint of white chocolate at the end. Drink or hold.

Tasted blind. Smells like the kind of gum used to stick paper together. Much less intense and concentrated than wine number 1 (Ch Doisy-Daëne). A little diffuse and simple. (JR)

Fresh, vibrant, yellow tropical fruits, candied tangerine skin, flowers, and honeysuckle create the aromatic profile. On the palate, there is ample sweetness to the tropical fruits and apricots with an edge of vanilla and spice in the finish. Drink from 2022-2045.

Falstaff

Falstaff

Pale yellow gold, silver reflections. Fine botrytis spice, a hint of yellow tropical fruit, honey and mango, subtle hints of lanolin. Juicy white peach fruit, lively structure, fine minerality, lemony, pleasant sweetness on the finish, a hint of orange on the aftertaste, well developed, already approachable, with some ageing potential.

Attractive and pure aromas offering ripe yellow fruit, pineapple, saffron, honey and vanilla. The palate is textured with well-balanced sweetness, great freshness underneath, lush stone-fruit and ripe citrus flavors with a long and unctuous finish.

Weinwisser

Bright golden yellow with linden-green reflections. Fresh pear purée on the playful nose, followed by acacia honey, a delicate flinty note, and mango chutney. On the generous palate, a syrupy extract, supporting acidity, and a mineral core. A focused medium finish with papaya and mirabelle plum jelly.

Kunz barrel sample 2020: dense, fresh, mineral bouquet, mirabelle plum jelly, Turkish delight, fine hints of lime, honey, dried apricots. Elegant, concentrated palate with pronounced sweetness, well‑integrated acidity, diverse aromatics, finely creamy texture, very long, fragrant finish. Has room to improve.

Gentle and inviting pale gold colour, this has precision, chiselled fruit, well-judged flesh, citrus and lemongrass, and plenty of grated ginger and mandarin zest to add focus and lift. This was enjoyable En Primeur but is an upscore now.

The Wine Independent

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

A blend of 96% Semillon and 4% Sauvignon Blanc, the 2019 Doisy-Vedrines has 132 g/L of residual sugar. It is pale lemon-straw in color and it reveals notes of lime blossoms, fresh grapefruit, and green mango, giving way to suggestions of oyster shell, fresh ginger, and coriander seed, with a hint of mandarin peel. The palate is concentrated and multilayered, with youthful citrus and tropical fruit flavors and amazing tension, finishing long and energetic.

Bettane+Desseauve

Hints of mango and yellow fruits, with a tautness that highlights the aromatic persistence and a chalky freshness that perfectly carries the wine through to its finish.

Le Figaro Vin

A delightfully honeyed nose, with beeswax and white fruits. On the palate, crunchy yellow fruits and the sensation of harvesting fresh honey at the very start of spring.

When freshness and charm are already allied on the nose, you can look forward to what’s to come! Lovely complexity with nuances of apricot, peach and nougat. This wine shines through its ability to deliver the symbiosis it already promised on the nose: sweetness and liveliness forge an inevitable, essential bond… this is Sauternes!

Vertdevin

The nose is fruity, fresh and elegant, with a slightly chiselled edge and fine minerality. It reveals notes of vineyard peach, bright apple and, more subtly, pineapple in syrup, combined with fine touches of crystallised lemon and delicate hints of lemon blossom, acacia, and a very discreet touch of almost candied pear. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral and balanced, offering lovely definition, a refined grain (beautifully fine texture), a light, airy feel and a zesty backbone. On the palate, this wine shows notes of pulpy/juicy apple, bright peach and, more subtly, crystallised lemon, joined by a touch of crunchy pineapple, lychee, fine hints of apricot, and a subtle note of refined minerality and citrus zest / finger lime (in the background). Score: 16/20
