The estate
A magnificent property located on the right bank of Bordeaux, Chateau de La Dauphine is known as one of the greatest wines of the Fronsac appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
The Fronsac terroir is made up of a mosaic of soils, the perfect setting for the vineyards of Chateau de La Dauphine. The vines, which extend over nearly 53 hectares, are planted in clay-limestone soils and clay-silt soils upon molasses de Fronsadais and limestone. Committed to a sustainable and environmental approach, Chateau de La Dauphine cultivates its vineyard under organic farming certification as well as according to the principles of biodynamic viticulture.
The vintage
This 2019 vintage was very peaceful at Chateau de La Dauphine. After a mild winter and a rainy spring, summer temperatures hit record highs. This exceptional climate combined with the viticultural strategies of Chateau de La Dauphine to ensure excellent health. The light precipitation in September allowed the fruit to ripen and produce a significant volume of juice, just in time for the very tranquil, healthy harvest.
The winemaking
Manual harvest from September 23 to October 3. Rigorous plot selection. Gravity reception. Double sorting. Temperature-controlled fermentation at 28 ° C. Fermentation for 30 days. Extraction by manual pour-overs. Vertical pressing. Malolactic fermentation in barrels (30%).
The aging
Aging plot-by-plot. 12 months of aging. 30% new French oak.
The blend
Merlot (85%), cabernet franc (15%).
The tasting
The Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 displays a dense and deep color in the glass. The nose expresses aromas of black fruits, which dominate the bouquet and are balanced with floral fragrances. On the palate, the wine reveals crunchy fruit and a great finesse. The Chateau de La Dauphine 2019 is a structured and delicate wine, offering a beautiful and faithful representation of the Fronsac appellation.
