Chateau d'Aiguilhe 2022

Mineral nose, chalky, cool, with ripe fruit and violets in the background; juicy, fruity attack, gripping tannins, straight, structured, with chalky tannins and very good length. Excellent and highly elegant this year.

Fresh and tightly focused, with a racy beam of red and black cherry fruit laced with violet and rose petal accents on the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2026 through 2034. 18,045 cases made.

Rich and intense nose, concentrated with dark bramble fruits. A shot of sharp, intense strawberry and raspberry hits the palate, super succulent and instantly mouthwatering, quite lean and linear though there is a nice expansion of fruit flavours while the tannins stay fairly firm and straight. Edging on austere and severe, but the softly plump juiciness keeps this enjoyable and there is layering of elements. Acidity is on the prominent side, but this is quite captivating with crunchy, bright, just-ripe red fruits and a chalky texture on the finish. Yield: 35 hl/ha. 30% new oak barrels.

A firm and tight red with blackberries, crushed stones, ink and iodine. Medium-bodied with medium tannins that are polished and very pretty. Refined and delicious. Always an excellent value. Drinkable now, but will age nicely.

The 2022 d'Aiguilhe is plump, juicy and super-expressive. At the same time, it has plenty of energy and the underlying structure to support a number of years in the cellar. Bright chalky notes extend the finish.

Flowers, black raspberries, plums, and cocoa create the perfume. On the palate, the wine is soft, mineral-driven, bright, and fresh. There is lift and energy, with a salty edge to the bright, clean red berries in the mid-palate that carry through to the finish. The wine blends 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2025-2038.

Deep dark ruby garnet colour with an opaque core and purple reflections, subtle brightening at the rim. Subtle herbal savouriness, black forest berries, hints of blackberries and liquorice. Juicy, elegant and fresh, tight, ripe tannins, lively acidity, red cherries, lemony finish, good length and great freshness, very animating.

The 2022 Château D'Aiguilhe brings more of everything, with a gorgeous nose of black raspberries, crushed stone, spring flowers, and violets that opens up beautifully with air. This carries to a medium- to full-bodied effort delivering ripe, polished tannins, a seamless mouthfeel, and a great, great finish.

Heavy clay soils before you hit limestone here, and the wine delivers unusual levels of sappy, pumice stone, juicy austerity for the vintage. Almost a granite edge to the tannins, floral aromatic intensity, bringing blue and red fruits, and subtle spices of dill, sage and saffron. Excellent quality and value. 35 hl/ha yield, 30% new oak.

A rich, inviting, heady bouquet where an abundance of perfectly ripe, remarkably pure fruit mingles with a meaty touch. On the palate, generosity shines through, combining the indulgence of the fruit with animal and spicy nuances, all carried by lovely suppleness.

Seigneur d’Aiguilhe set the tone and, without challenging its big brother, already hinted at the quality to expect. The bouquet is precise, fresh, spicy, and harmonious. On the palate, the wine shows immediate tension as well as breadth, while the tannins are perfectly integrated. A delicious, incisive wine energized by a juicy finish.
