Description
Chateau Bellegrave reveals a red wine which expresses the Pomerol terroir
The estate
Jean Bouldy acquired Chateau Bellegrave in Pomerol in 1951. Today, Jean-Marie Bouldy represents the third generation of his family at the estate, and runs this beautiful property on the right bank of Bordeaux with his wife and children, Aurelie and Jean-Baptiste.
The vineyard
The Chateau Bellegrave vineyard covers 8.5 hectares of vines. It is located in the southwest of the Pomerol appellation. Chateau Bellegrave is planted with 75% Merlot, supplemented by 25% Cabernet Franc. In 2001, Jean-Marie Bouldy began an informal conversion to organic viticulture. In 2009, the Chateau Bellegrave vineyard fully converted to organic farming with the ECOCERT certification.
Winemaking
Plot-by-plot blending by type of soil, age, grape variety. Individualized vinification for each vat.
Blend
The 2020 Chateau Bellegrave is made of a blend of Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%).
