Description
Characteristics and Tasting Notes for the Pinot Grigio 2024 by Livio Felluga
Tasting
Color
The wine displays a bright antique gold color with light coppery highlights, a hue linked to the naturally pink-tinted skin of the pinot grigio grape and to a brief skin-contact maceration before pressing.
Nose
The nose is subtle and vibrant, opening on apricot and white peach, layered with orange zest, fresh spices, lemon cream and wildflower honey.
Palate
The palate shows a well-structured progression, with fresh notes of cantaloupe melon, papaya, Golden Delicious apple, apricot and sage, closing on a long, tangy and slightly saline citrus finish.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs naturally with grilled fish such as branzino, with the classic Friulian combination of San Daniele prosciutto and melon, and with fritto misto, where its citrus lift refreshes the palate between bites. It also complements vegetable risottos, seafood pasta dishes, and fresh cheeses like burrata finished with a touch of lemon zest.
Serving and cellaring
The Pinot Grigio 2024 is best served at a temperature of 10 to 12°C, allowing its aromatic range to unfold without emphasizing its alcohol. No decanting is required before enjoying this wine.

The Estate
Livio Felluga was founded in 1956 in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, in Italy's northeastern corner between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea. The estate is best known for its geographic map label, created that same year to highlight the origin of its wines. Today the family-run property, led by Andrea Felluga, farms around 200 hectares across the Collio and Colli Orientali del Friuli hillsides, following sustainable viticultural practices centered on precision and terroir expression.
The Vineyard
The grapes for this wine come from hillside vineyards within the Friuli Colli Orientali appellation, planted on marl and sandstone soils of Eocene origin, commonly known locally as flysch. The vines are trained using the Guyot method, benefiting from good sun exposure and natural ventilation typical of this hilly terroir. Grapes are harvested by hand, selecting healthy, fully ripe bunches.
Winemaking and aging
For the Pinot Grigio 2024, hand-picked grapes are gently destemmed before a short skin-contact maceration lasting about four to six hours, which extracts the grape's characteristic coppery pigments. The must is then softly pressed and clarified by natural settling before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged on its lees for approximately six months to build texture and depth, followed by a minimum of two months of bottle aging in a temperature-controlled cellar before release.
