Description
The harmony and balance of a fine red wine from Saint-Julien by Ducru-Beaucaillou
The estate
An icon of the left bank, Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is undoubtedly one of the greatest names in the Bordeaux region. The 2nd Classified Growth of the Official Classification of 1855 embodies the perfect model of a great Saint-Julien. Acquired by the Borie family in 1941, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou takes its name from its extraordinary terroir. Led with great passion and determination by the talented Bruno Borie, Ducru-Beaucaillou today belongs to the elite circle of great Saint-Julien wines.
The vineyard
Situated along the river, the Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard is planted in gravel dating from the Günz Ice Age. Near the Gironde estuary, the vines benefit from an exceptional microclimate as the river acts as a thermal regulator.
The wine
Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou is an introduction to the style of its elders, the Great Wine of Ducru-Beaucaillou and La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou. Endowed with its own style, Le Petit Ducru presents the same attention from the team during the vegetative cycle of the vine, the same uncompromising selection and the same rigorous vinification as the other two wines.
The blend
Merlot (60%), cabernet sauvignon (36%), petit verdot (4%).
The aging
12 months in Bordeaux barrels, 30% of which are new oak, the rest oak of one previous wine.
The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, Le Petit Ducru de Ducru-Beaucaillou 2019 presents an intense purple-red color. The aromatic complexity of the bouquet reveals itself from the very beginning. Notes of red fruit and stewed fruit come through on the nose, revealing discreet notes of aging. On the palate, the wine displays a great amplitude of material. The development on the palate emphasizes the balance of the wine, which stretches forth on a very long, lingering finish. Product of a superb vintage ending in -9, Le Petit Ducru will add a beautiful touch to your Sunday meals and can be enjoyed in its youth.
