Côte-de-Beaune-Villages is an appellation in the Cote de Beaune with the distinction of being apart of 14 different appellations. The soil composition is therefore varied with calcareous brown soils, shallow soils, red gravel, ferruginous oolite, yellow limestone and a series of marls, limestone, clay and sand. The diversity of the terroirs also causes different characters for these red Pinot Noir wines. Thus, the Cote de Beaune-Villages from the north gives off charming fruity and floral aromas while the Cote de Beaune-Villages from the south develop fruit and flower fragrances with subtle vegetal notes, both of which reveal balanced power.
