Clos du Marquis, Medoc’s historic trademark, comes from the best vineyards of the Saint-Julien appellation: Petit Clos (small walled parcel). The vineyard is directly adjacent to Marquis de Las Cases’ residence: Château de Léoville. The 2015 Clos du Marquis is 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc.
The vintage structure, complexity, and harmony perfectly convey the distinctive character of great Saint-Julien wines. The superb balance brings a certain distinction to the wine, suggesting outstanding ageing potential. This Clos du Marquis reveals lovely complex nose. Intense and creamy, with superb mid-palate and beautiful finish.
A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Clos du Marquis gives up expressive notes of warm mulberries, kirsch and blackberry pie with touches of sandalwood, potpourri, anise and charcuterie. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a great core of rich, spicy fruit framed by plush tannins and finishing with an invigorating lift.
