Decanter

Highly perfumed and aromatic on the nose, bright vivid purple colour in the glass. Fresh and bright purple fruits, blackcurrants and plums. Sweet, straight, highly charged in terms of fruit persistence, weight and fleshiness, but with a linear, focused, cooling, chalky, creamy, powdery element as well as mineral touches. Supple, a bit gentle with bite and crunch. A touch austere and dry towards the end, but more the youth speaking at this point. Nice promise and lovely graphite, minty-fresh lift at the end. Good combination of fruit and terroir on show. Harvest 12–23 September. Ageing 16 months, 70% stainless-steel tanks, 30% French oak barrels of one wine. In organic conversion. Derenoncourt consultants.

A rich and aromatic Bordeaux wine

The estate

Château Francs Magnus is a 13-hectare estate located in the middle of a limestone plateau.

Winemaking and ageing

The grapes selected for the development of this Bordeaux Supérieur wine are meticulously sorted. No crushing. Vinification in stainless steel and cement vats with daily pumping over and punching down. Ageing in vats (70%) and in one-wine barrels (30%).

Blend

Château Franc Magnus 2022 is a blend of Merlot (90%) and Cabernet Franc (10%).
