Description

A Fronsac wine with silky tannins and mineral expression

The estate

Created in 1750 by Jean-Baptiste de Richon in the Fronsac appellation of Bordeaux, the Château de La Dauphine takes its name from a stay by Marie-Josèphe de Saxe, Dauphine of France. The estate spans limestone plateaus and is distinguished by its royal heritage, exceptional terroir and environmentally respectful viticultural philosophy, producing wines of great finesse.

The vineyard

Covering 40 hectares, the vineyard of Château de La Dauphine flourishes on the prestigious limestone plateaus of Fronsac. The vines, which average 30 years of age, benefit from optimal exposure on this limestone terroir, giving the wines their distinctive mineral character and remarkable aging potential.

The vintage

The 2024 vintage is characterized by its late development, marked by significant rainfall that influenced the vegetative cycle. The clay soils withstood the climatic challenges better, yielding grapes of exceptional quality.

Winemaking and aging

The winemaking favors a rigorous plot selection, retaining only the finest plots of the limestone plateau. Manual pump-overs and the use of a vertical hydraulic press allow for delicate extraction. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels, followed by a 12-month aging combining barrels, 20-hectolitre vats and amphorae.

Blend

This Château de La Dauphine 2024 is the result of a blend composed of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, reflecting the typicity of the great wines of Bordeaux's right bank.
