Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Beychevelle 2024

Tasting

Color
Bright and deep color.

Nose
The aromatic bouquet reveals generous notes of black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry) and red fruits, accompanied by subtle nuances of harmonious woodiness that testify to its careful aging.

Palate
On the palate, this vintage stands out for its fine and velvety tannic structure. The balance is remarkable, with a beautiful freshness that supports the aromas of red and black fruits. The silky texture envelops the palate, offering a tasting that is both powerful and elegant.

A great, full-bodied and expressive Saint-Julien wine

The property

Château Beychevelle, founded in 1565 by François de Foix-Candale, is an emblematic estate of Saint-Julien. Nicknamed the "Versailles of Bordeaux" for its majestic architecture, it extends over 90 hectares of vineyards. The name "Beychevelle" comes from the medieval tradition where ships lowered their sails as a sign of respect for the Governor of Guyenne. Classified Cru Classé in 1855, the estate now belongs to the Castel and Suntory groups.

The vineyard

The vineyard of Château Beychevelle benefits from an exceptional terroir in Saint-Julien, with deep gravel soils typical of the Médoc. This geological composition offers perfect natural drainage and regular feeding of the vine. The ideal exposure of the plots and the proximity of the Gironde estuary create a microclimate conducive to the optimal ripening of the grapes, contributing to the quality and typicity of the wines.

Vinification and aging

Parcel vinification. Aging in barrels, 70% of which are new.

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (55%), merlot (42%) and petit verdot (3%).
