The 2012 Château Beychevelle exhibits a deep dark colour. It is fruity and expressive on the nose with cornflower and cherry. These aromatic elements elegantly blend with oak notes. The palate gives and impression of sweetness and remarkable freshness with a full and generous fruit. The whole is attractive and do not lack a structure. One can enjoy the elegance of the tannins without astringency nor greenness. The finish gives way to a full-bodied sensation. The 2012 Beychevelle is a fruity, charming and very balanced Saint-Julien.
The grand vin, the 2012 Beychevelle, is one of the stars of St.-Julien. Opaque purple, with beautiful crème de cassis notes, the wine has floral underpinnings, sweet tannin and a nice layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel. This is elegant and powerful, rich and intense, but light on its feet. This is a great Beychevelle and certainly seems to exceed the vintage's character and expectations. Give it 4-6 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 25-30 years.
